L.O.L. Surprise 7th Birthday

Our sweet Sophia turned 7 this month so what better way than to celebrate with an L.O.L. Surprise Birthday Bash at Great Wolf Lodge! This was the first year that Sophia wanted to have a party at a location that was not our house and I must admit that it made me cringe inside when I realized that I wouldn't be able to decorate the hotel room as much as I would if we were at home. Nevertheless, I persisted to dream up ways to make this birthday memorable and how I could turn this creative challenge into a successful birthday bash! One of the first things I did for party prep was contact my girlfriend Malisa from CreativeAmme for some lasercut cutouts of some of Sophia's favorite L.O.L. Dolls. I knew she could help me with my vision for some handpainted wooden 'Dolls' and boy did she deliver! The cutouts were adorable on their own but I took extra time to paint them so they would POP even more!

The birthday weekend started off with some serious time in the indoor waterpark but once nighttime rolled around it was time to party! With limited space to decorate I worked to include as many custom details into this party as possible from the meticulously handpainted wooden L.O.L. Dolls to the personalized pastel water bottles to match the overall theme. Sophia and her grilfriends enjoyed delicious sweets and treats from another girlfriend of mine, Shelly from Soirees and Sweetness including glittery sugar cookies and a gorgeous 'Surprise Ball' cake flavored like a chocolate chip cookie! After the cake and presents were opened, the birthday girl and her girlfriends enjoyed an evening of dressing up as their favorite doll and walking in an impromtu fashion show!

#MyFourth Emoji Party

The emoji craze started with the iPhone but has quickly evolved into the retail, home decor and most of all... the party industry! We foresee the emoji trend continuing to thrive for years to come! We're so happy that the mermaid + unicorn emoji's exist but with the New Year we are hoping for a disco ball, anyone agree?

We designed + styled this #MyFourth birthday bash last summer for a little cutie named Max. All he wanted was a room filled with emoji themed goodies for him and his friends to play with and our La Jolie Fête team was up for the challenge!

First, we created two hashtags for party guests to tag their photos with during the party, which allowed guests to upload their own photos to social media throughout the party and share their own memories with Max! Next was the statement wall, topped with a gold foil balloon hashtag phrase "#MyFourth" and overflowing with emoji pillows + air-filled balls for partygoers to take home this was a big hit among the kids.

Our dessert table was packed full of colorful sweets + treats. The giant emoji heart eye cake and mini assorted cupcakes from Heavenly Sweet Sam were absolutely delicious and so fun! Almost too cute to eat *keyword almost :P

We found amazing DIY emoji necklace kits from Michaels and paired them with cute coloring sheets for each guest to decorate their favorite emoji. Outside, the kids enjoyed taking a swing at a giant emoji piñata filled with even MORE emoji toys + candy, filling their take home emoji cups to the brim with goodies for days!

At the end of the party we asked Max if his emoji goals had been filled and with an enthusiastic "Yes!" we went home with smiles as big as the grinning-faced emoji :D

DIY 'Mom'osa Brunch

The end of 2017 brought lots of reasons to celebrate, now with the first week of this New Year our La Jolie Fête team has decided to throw a 'Mom'osa brunch + 26th birthday party for our hardest working boss babes! Join us as we share our tips + tricks on how to plan the perfect mimosa bar and let us know what elements you would include to make your own bar + brunch in the comments below!

This mimosa bar + brunch was a mix of a few of our favorite breakfast foods, sweets and bubbly! Besides a stunning display and refreshing drink station, a mimosa bar allows your guests to create their own color-infused cocktails while offering a low-maintenance serving option for the host/hostess. There are so many flavor combinations from fresh pressed juice and fresh cut fruit, the possibilities are literally endless! The juices we chose for this brunch were: strawberry peach, fresh squeezed orange, white grape + peach, strawberry orange and fresh squeezed strawberry lemonade. We paired these juices with strawberries, blueberries, orange slices and raspberries.

We found our juice decanters at HomeGoods, an amazing place to find glassware for any party (plus a million other things you weren't even planning on buying...seriously I spend so much time walking the aisles of the HomeGoods/TjMaxx/Marshalls trio). We then took to a mini DIY project for some festive glitter straws! We created these by cutting out heart shapes from glitter cardstock and hot gluing them to some gold + white paper straws. To finish it off, we cut small pieces of cardstock into miniature banners and wrote 'Drink Me'. Next, we set up the drink station by choosing some of our favorite glassware and placed them on the bottom shelf of our Ikea bar cart.

We LOVE a good tassel garland, it's all about the details ya'll! We paired this gold + white garland with a glittering 'Cheers' sign created from foam board and a little elbow grease! For this DIY, you will need to either print out a large phrase such as 'Cheers' or hand letter your phrase on a large piece of foam board. Next, carefully cut the phrase out of the foam board and lightly sand the sides with a light grain piece of sandpaper or a nail file. Lastly, use a paintbrush to spread glue (Mod Podge or Aleene's Original Tacky Glue are our go-to fav's!) across the phrase and cover with your desired color of glitter (or craft paint!). Pro Tip: Cover the glitter layer with an additional coat of Mod Podge to ensure that the glitter will stay in place instead of all over your floor as I have made the mistake of doing once or twice.

The final step of any successful mimosa brunch is to invite your favorite guests, in this case we invited a few of our best #mompreneurs and fellow #bossbabes! We have found a wonderful group of gal pals to network and collaborate with within the past year of launching La Jolie Fête and we are looking forward to an amazing year of success! Cheers babes!
